About Us

Founded in 1999, AWEC is a trade organization created for the professional development of its members, as well as the promotion of wedding coordinating and consulting services. AWEC is dedicated to providing professional assistance to wedding couples. To that end, we work to expand awareness of local service professionals amongst ourselves and our clients, create an open forum for problem solving, discussion, and the exchange of ideas, and finally, to raise the standard of service within our industry.

Our members include both certified wedding consultants as well as a variety of wedding-related vendors ranging from caterers to florists to musicians.

Mission Statement

As AWEC members, we strive to provide couples with the coordination services needed to ensure their wedding dreams become a reality. AWEC coordinators provide the needed services that allow the happy couple to worry about nothing more on their wedding day than saying; "I do" to one another.

Membership Benefits

Whether you are a wedding consultant or wedding vendor, whether you are brand new to the industry or a seasoned veteran, AWEC will benefit you by

  • providing you with a network of quality peers
  • allowing you to share knowledge and in turn learn from others
  • enriching you through our targeted educational programs
  • granting you access to Austin's top wedding consultants and vendors.

    Membership Standards

Simply paying annual dues is not enough to grant you membership in AWEC - we hold our standards much higher by requiring multiple references from clients, vendors and peers to ensure that AWEC stands for excellence in Austin's wedding community. For more information please visit our Membership Information section, or e-mail membership@awec.org.

    Code of Ethics

AWEC requires all members to sign a code of ethics based on customer service, honesty, professional growth and teamwork. As certified, independent wedding and event coordinators, we strive to educate, advance, and promote the wedding and event industry and its network of professionals.

  • AWEC Coordinator Code of Ethics

As professional, independent wedding coordinators, we strive to educate, advance, and promote the wedding and event industry and it's network of professionals.

    To that end, we:

  • Shall strive to cooperate with colleagues, vendors, associates, and all persons in the wedding industry, in order to provide the highest quality of service at every level of wedding planning.
  • Shall not advertise in a false or inaccurate manner in order to misrepresent qualifications or mislead potential clients as to the nature of the quality, price, or availability of services.
  • Shall not generate income in any way that could be determined as not in the best interest of the client. This includes, but is not limited to, making decisions on vendor usage with the expectation of vendor referral fees or commissions being returned to us, as independent wedding and event coordinators.
  • Shall attend and sponsor educational programs to increase professional growth and knowledge of the industry, to individually contribute expertise to meetings and publications, and to encourage constructive dialogue between colleagues.
  • Shall subscribe to AWEC principles and professional conduct and ethics, and abide by the AWEC by-laws and policies.
  • Shall not defame any other member or non-member, by falsely making statements which will unjustifiably injure his or her reputation or personal integrity. All members will refrain from misrepresentation or false accusation as to the others' abilities and capacity to fulfill contracts and agreements.
